NDís SPEND MORE TIME

Happy Healthy WomanA typical patient appointment with your Naturopathic Doctor is 30-60 minutes, with the initial visit being 90 minutes. Your Naturopathic Doctor will conduct an in-depth assessment, health history and physical exam. There will also be discussions to explain lab results, diagnoses, and treatment plan. Some treatments may also be provided in-office (such as acupuncture or counselling). As treatment plans are individualized to your unique health care needs, your Naturopathic Doctor will work with you to determine a follow-up appointment plan that best suits your schedule and needs.

NDs LISTEN

A Naturopathic Doctor takes the time to listen, bringing together standard medical diagnostics and natural medicines to treat the problem at the root. In order to conduct a thorough health assessment, your doctor gets to know you. Listening to you is crucial to your Naturopathís ability to help you find the root cause of your health concerns and help you to achieve your health goals. Dr. Tam is experienced in lifestyle counselling, appreciating that physical problems are often affected by our mental state.

NDs HELP YOU UNDERSTAND

Dr. Tam strives to empower her patients to embrace health and wellness by ensuring that patients understand how their body works, what is occurring during the disease process, treatment options, and how each natural treatment will affect the disease process. Your Naturopathic Doctor will also help you understand your blood tests, imaging results, and other tests performed by your Naturopath or other medical professional. Dr. Tam wants you to know how YOU can keep your body healthy and well.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE FIRST VISIT

The first visit is 90 minutes in length and includes an in-depth assessment, health history, and physical exam. Your Naturopathic Doctor will discuss your primary health concerns in detail, as well as assess all your bodyís systems to determine if symptoms or conditions may be related, to elucidate an underlying cause of your health concerns, and assess risk factors for health conditions. Initial treatments are provided in the first visit.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE SECOND VISIT

Between the first and second visit, your Naturopath will review all information gathered to determine the underlying causes of health concerns, and develop individualized treatment plan. This may include connecting with your other healthcare providers for results of previous laboratory testing, imaging, or other assessments. In the second visit, you will be presented with a detailed explanation of the treatment plan, treatment options, and short term & long term goals for on-going treatment.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN FOLLOW-UP VISITS

Follow-up appointments are typically 30 minutes in length but can also range from 15 minutes to 1 hour depending on the treatment required. During follow-up appointments, the treatment plan is adjusted as needed and in-office treatments may be performed (e.g., acupuncture, body work, counselling, injections.) Once your primary health concerns are resolved, your Naturopathic Doctor will likely move towards a treatment plant to optimize your overall health, which can include improving the function of all your bodyís systems, and disease prevention. New symptoms or conditions will be addressed as part of your on-going health care.
